Grown up in a family of creatives Ion started his photography journey making portraits when he was 13 - often his older sister modelling for him. Later on, still behind the iron curtain Ion got access to l'Humanite Dimanche, and the absolute craziness of Thierry Mugler fashion and photography sparked his interest for fashion and advertising. Once set free by the revolutions in Eastern Europe he launched himself in styling and fashion under his own brand name, Atelier Ion Berindan, being one of the main brands showing in the early 90's with Transilvania Fashion Festival.
With a renewed interest now in digital photography, Ion decided to return behind the camera, blending his love for fashion and images into a new commerical venture: fashion photography. Influenced by the magazine covers of the late 80's and early 90's he loves to capture crisp clean images of fashion, beauty, and portraits. Ion particularly enjoys the simple esthetique that gives priority to a clear cut, detailed image of the products while crafting enticing visuals well integrated in a stylistic story. His love for fashion drives him to delve into personal projects with his own styling, art directing, staging and producing fashion stills and motion. Learning photography on film he still hangs on to his first soviet cameras, the CMENA 8 and the Lubitel and his old developing and enlarging dark room lab. He is ready to provide stunning images on negative or positive film at current standards for scanning.
His clients include CXL by Christian Lacroix, 30Seven, and numerous collaborations with local sports and ready to wear brands, swimwear, pantyhose and lingerie companies, as well as portraiture for political peronalities, beauty pageant winners. etc.
By owning a fashion/beauty/lifestyle production company specialising in photography and short movies he can provide a fully stacked grip truck, speedlights and monoblocs, videolights, generator, scrims, cranes, dolly, gimbals and a wide variety of modifiers. After years of collaborations he can draw a team from an extensive network of professionals in a short period of time including Hair, Make-up, Styling, Models, catering and transportation, as well as a wide variety of props, performers and even exotic or large animal handlers. Due to his extensive travel in Europe he can also provide a selection of beautiful, yet still little known locations throughout Europe for different types of shootings, either on private or public proprety, with reasonable permit timetables He collaborates with professionals/companies and reputable international agencies, many of them having working knowledge of English and at least another wide spoken European language.
